A quote from her book Growing Up X: - Malcolm was the second most sought after speaker in America, Time Magazine 1963.
- During his trip to Africa, he was offered important and very lucrative positions.
- He was asked to move his family to Africa more than once, but the offers were decline.
If that isn't selfless.... Source

I agree that it is selfless, however Malcolm had a huge family to care for so I was always conflicted about his decision to turn down lucrative employment and even safe havens to help his family when they were in need. At the same time I'm sure he knew better than anyone how much his life was in danger no matter where he was and he didn't want it to seem as though he was cowering or running away from the threats on his life. He also wanted to help his organization OAAU grow and being over seas would not grow his organization.

Maybe he could have sent Betty and the girls overseas with protection and money? It would have been a hard decision, but it might have helped their financial situation greatly. I think he had a good number of allies overseas.. I wonder who & what countries were giving him offers. I think there were a few Arab countries. And I forget the country or province, but wherever he was when they started calling him Omowale ("the son who has come home") probably had offers.

How much was 600 bucks back then? Malcolm was very much committed to the Black struggle in the US.

I need to go back to the Autobiography and take notes so I don't forget.
